Summary: Cold, distant editor for a successful newspaper? Check. Enraged, fiery assistant’s assistant for a slaggy magazine? Check. Perfect hair and a fine pair of eyes? Put it all together and what have you got? Sexual tension and the brain child of someone’s obvious obsession for cracky AU fanfiction.
Age: 26-29
Story: Meet Eliza Button, assistant to Arthur Cole the editing assistant for Longbourn, Britain’s top entertainment magazine. When she isn’t avoiding the advances of Arthur, Eliza’s scribbling away in a notepad full of article ideas. All her life Eliza’s known one thing to be true, and that is her desire to write. When she was first hired for the magazine three years prior, it wasn’t her first pick. Still, assistant to the editting assistant at a flashy magazine sounded like it presented more opportunities than being an intern for the one serious newspaper she originally wanted to work for, The Pemberley Estate. She had figured that she’d go in the back way, and that her big break would come in no time.
Three years later and countless coffee runs to go, and she’s all but given up hope. Working freelance on the side, she’s recently begun to submit her own articles to newspapers. While a fair few have been published, the one newspaper she always shoots for never returns her calls. Then, out of the blue she receives her first rejection from them, a haughty, cold letter kindly telling her where she can shove her article.
It’s at a press release party for the return of Britain pop star Caro that the two literally bump into one another and Eliza manages to spill a fruity drink all down the front of a disgruntled Will Fitzpatrick. Sparks fly, and not the pretty ones. When Eliza finds out later that evening that Will’s the editor with the penchant for snarky rejection letters she’s enraged and determined to rip him a new one.
Meanwhile Will’s feathers have been ruffled and he’s none to pleased to be out a clean white pressed dress shirt. Above all, he’s frustrated when he finds himself intrigued by the rather annoying brunette with the distressingly bright eyes.
Notes:
- A bit of Pride & Prejudice/Bridget Jones tomfoolery and remixed with some more flawless faces. There will be plotting, lots and lots of lovely plotting.
- I’d love to play Eliza in this, although I wouldn’t object to playing Will. FCs are nonnegotiable because look at them!
- We’ll start with their meeting and the point of impact.
- Send me an ask if you’ve got any questions!

Loki - Katie McGrath
Phil Coulson - Rachel Weisz
Black Widow - Eddie Redmayne
Hawkeye - Gemma Arterton
Captain America - Imogen Poots
Thor - Yvonne Strahovski
Pepper Potts - Simon Woods

Age: 28-30
Story:
M was born in London, England, the only heir to the wealthy family his mother had married into. In truth, his parents had only married when his father’s family had discovered that their son had impregnated a young American with an expired Visa. The pregnancy and the marriage allowed her to stay in the country, but shortly after he was born his mother expressed wishes to return to America. His father refused, especially as she had plans for full custody. After a few more marital disputes began to pile up, the couple agreed to divorce on a heavy settlement and split child custody. M spent the first seven years of his life flying back between London and New York, going to school in England and spending most weekends and holidays in America. His mother got remarried to another wealthy man who moved the family forty minutes from New York to a mansion in Rye City. His father did not remarry, and continued to teach for the School of Journalism at the University of Lincoln in the UK.
When M was seven he came down with a case of pneumonia. His health was risky, and it came pretty close. Once he was feeling better, his mother reopened the case of his custody, and with a heavy part played by her new husband she won. M came back to the States with his mother and never went back to see his father. The pair would phone and write for some time until communication stopped. As M’s mother cut the cord between father and son, M’s father worked to track them down. M was tutored and rarely allowed to leave the house. His mother smothered him with possessions but rarely with her time. He found companionship online, maintaining a steady enough friendship with one user and a scattered few with others. He read as much as he could, watched more classic movies than he’d care to admit, and eventually delved into the world of graphic design. M has a talent for design and coding, and wishes that he could work for himself rather than designing and maintaining his step-father’s website.
Twenty-three years later and M is thirty years old living in his mother’s fully furnished mansion basement. Twenty-three years later, and M’s father hasn’t forgotten him. Having finally located his son, M’s father has enlisted the help of F, a former American student he kept in contact with. F is originally from New York, and came to England to study Journalism. She found a job right out of school, but is currently unemployed after having been fired from her last one.Taking M’s father upon on his offer of a free trip to America, she figures the task of finding and freeing his son will be a simple enough.
Not so much. M is both reluctant and eager to leave his home. He’s naive in some senses, and rather socially awkward. F is impatient but desperate for the money. Will F fulfill M’s father’s wishes? Will M finally grow some balls, stand up to his mother and make his own way in the world? Or will the pair get too knotted up in the odds against them?
Notes:
- I’d be willing to play either the male or the female
although at this point I’d probably prefer the female.- Inspired by Tangled, but one doesn’t need to have watched Tangled to understand the gist of the plot.
- We’d start with the pair meeting, and move on from there. M would be eager to leave his home but wary of his mother and step-father.
- M would “trick” F into essentially “kidnapping” him, and then proceed to New York. M has intentions of going into business on his own, and thinks New York is the place to start.
- M’s father will be paying F all the while. M will not know his father knows F. His father found him through an acquaintance online, and F will claim to be this heavily paid acquaintance.
